Efficiency of Hard Disks Drives

hard disks drives

Hard disks drives are a device that is needed in the world today since the industrial era changed over the technology era. This computer hardware stores important information in the data form which works as document storage. Hard disks drives are even much more efficient because of its small size, it can save hundreds thousands data, and does not use a lot of space in your room, compared with using document storage to store your files.

Accesses to the hard disks drives are also much easier than opening your document storage. The time needed to access your data from it is 10 milliseconds after you click on the mouse. You also do not need to spend much time to store your files. The time needed to store the files is 10 MB per second that means the hundreds of files can be stored in less than 15 seconds, just a few clicks on your mouse and your important files will be saved quickly.

Various devices have installed hard disks drives within it such as camcorders which can record your important moments and save them. The other device is laptop / notebook, which provides a lot of efficiency such as saving and accessing your files anywhere.

Along with the development of technology, now you can take handy hundreds of important files by storing them into the external hard disks drives. Compare if you take hundreds of them without using this hardware, it’s impossible to take a walk with your storage.

Portable external hard disks drives can be easily carried, lighter and smaller than internal hard disks drives, you can also access the external hard drives through the home computer, office computer, your friend’s computer, or on the laptop.

HDD Drives Definition

HDD drives are primary storage which stores your data, located in the Central Processing Unit (CPU), connected by ATA or SCSI cable, power cable, and installed in motherboard.

Unlike another hardware such as CD-ROM and floppy disk drive, this hardware can not be accessed directly. It can be accessed through the Operating System (OS) program such as Microsoft Windows, Linux, and Macintosh, just a few clicks the data can be deleted, stored, used, and transferred. HDD hard drive allows computer users to store various data in one place, has a small form, and requires less power consumption. CPU can accommodate more than one HDD hard drive, and each of them can have different storage capacity. It is known as Local Disk (C:) as default name recognized by Windows Operating System, and can be parted.

The partition creates virtual HDD drives which works to store the data separately. Please note that before the partition, you must backup your data first in CD-ROM or another external media such as external hard drive because your data will be erased after the partition. Avoid backup your data in virtual HDD drives in case of HDD hard drive damage, because the data inside it will be lost too.

Buying tips

HDD hard drive specification must be considered and adjusted to your needs, if you use the computer only for typing documents, store your data, and browsing the Internet, no need to buy a large capacity, 80 GB capacity is enough for you. For the gamers and mp3 lovers who want to install software for your child’s education or for your business purposes, its better to buy a larger one. It is becoming more advanced and cheaper (less then $1 per gigabyte) every single day and it is now possible to get a 350 GB drive for $60 which is dirt cheap.

The price depends on capacity and RPM, the greater the capacity and the faster the RPM, the more expensive it is. Make sure to find out first whether your desired HDD hard drive is easily to get hot or not before you spend money on it. You can choose Maxtor, Seagate or Western Digital products. Buy unbranded is not a right choice.

Considering PC requirements before installing large HDD drives capacity will prevent PC performance slowing down. For installing HDD drives 320 GB or more, I recommend to use at least 1.02 RAM memory and 2GHz processor speed or higher.
