Previously until these days, Maxtor’s reputation is as good as the competitors, Seagate and Western Digital. But I read a lot of testimony from some hard drive users about Maxtor drives weakness. Among most popular hard drive brands, I think Maxtor drives have become the brand that receives the most complaints. Some people feel more confident using Seagate to protect their data than Maxtor. They think that since Serial ATA hard drives take role in the hard drive market, Maxtor hard drives are no longer best in ATA class. But I’ve never had a bad experience with them. I installed them on 2 home computers for 4 years and one computer in my office for 2 years. They’re working well until now.

Many complaints come from users about Maxtor drives which are easily to get hot and very noisy. Maxtor drives are also called musical hard drive because their motor produces mobile phone melody when the spindle gets stuck. Although receive many complaints, Maxtor drives are still a good deal products for many hard drive users. Besides offering high class specification, some of Maxtor’s products offer a cheaper price than Seagate and Western Digital.

Maxtor attempts to prove the quality of Maxtor Drives by launching Maxtor DiamondMax series which get a good response.

Maxtor’s power is also in the external drives market and obtains the trust from consumer with Seagate technology that plays an important role inside. One of external drives that I’m talking about is Maxtor OneTouch4 Plus which I like the most. This external drive is the first external drive which is a result of the collaboration between Seagate and Maxtor since Seagate purchased Maxtor shareholders in 2005. It has data protection and data recovery features.

Maxtor drives are smart choice for your internal hard drives. Besides, Maxtor external drives are also excellent choice for your external hard drives.
